Outfit Inspiration For Your Upcoming Graduation

By Kristen Peuvion on April 27, 2015

College graduation brings out a mix of emotions in everyone.

As a graduating senior myself, I have feelings all over the spectrum about my impending graduation that happens in a matter of four short weeks, and I’m sure all of my fellow graduates are feeling the same.

There’s that excitement about future plans, but with that comes some anxiety about not knowing exactly what is to come. At the same time, there is also that overwhelming sadness that you will never call the place that you lived for the past four years home again.

But let’s stop dwelling about all of that serious stuff, and let’s get to the one thing about graduation that is actually exciting: picking out the perfect outfit!

It’s always fun getting a new outfit, no matter what the occasion is, and graduation definitely calls for a super cute outfit. After all, you’re celebrating working your butt off for the last four years.

So it’s time to reward yourself and purchase the perfect graduation dress to walk across that stage in with pride.

Here are some dresses to keep in mind as inspiration while you’re shopping.

Ginger Fizz Mondo Bloom Print Dress

This dress is first and foremost, so pretty! But it also happens to be incredibly on trend for spring and summer. It incorporates a subtle gingham print that was seen on all of the spring 2015 runways.

Plus, it has a graphic floral print that’s trendy as well. Designers started straying away from the classic floral print we usually see and began using a more graphic floral print instead to give the trend a much needed update.

This dress is modern in the combination of prints but the cut is classic and feminine. Overall, this dress gives you the best of both worlds and will work for nearly anyone’s style.

Pair it with a pair of nude pumps to keep the classic feminine feel or try a pair of coral or sunset orange sandal heels for a fun, flirty look. Either way, you’ll be the star of your graduation in this Ginger Fizz dress.

AQ AQ Fantasy Bonded Scuba Full Skirt and Even Top with Back Keyhole

This matching set is adorable! Matching sets have been popular for a while now, but it seems like they aren’t going anywhere.

This little number is a fun alternative to a dress and the subtle details on it make it more exciting than a plain old matching shirt and skirt.

The first thing you notice is the vibrant color which makes you smile just by looking at it. Then, when you take a look at the back of the top, the interest level soars because of the keyhole back.

You get a little bit of skin on the back and on your torso, but it’s still conservative so it’ll be appropriate for a graduation and other events in the future.

Paul & Joe Sister Printed Romper

Rompers aren’t for everyone, but if you like the style and they work for your body type, this is the romper for you! The print is tribal on the sides but classic and monochromatic in the middle, so you get a combination of two completely different styles and they come together perfectly.

The different colors on the romper give you endless options when it comes to shoes. A cage heel would look fabulous, but a tan wedge would work just as well if you’re worried about walking in high heels.

Whistles Effie Midi Dress

This dress is great for graduation because it’s a little more unique than other dresses, but also has an elegant simplicity to it. Most girls will probably be wearing short dresses, so you’ll stand out with this dress’ longer hem.

You’ll also stand out with this gorgeous, trendy color. Chartreuse was big on the spring 2015 runway, so rock this color with confidence. Despite all that though, the cut is really simple and classic, and is bound to be flattering on any body type.

Finish this dress off with a pair of simple, strappy sandal heels so you can let the dress do all of the talking.

You may be freaking out about your impending graduation and what the future has in store for you, but graduation doesn’t have to be a time of complete stress.

Take some time out of your stress, make time to enjoy this exciting time and most importantly start looking for the perfect outfit for the occasion. This list of possible graduation outfit ideas is just the inspiration you’ll need when shopping.
